In Lord of Chaos, Graendal thinks while talking to Sammael that Mesaana had been "sure Be'lal would capture Rand in Tear" and she was "very proud of that trap". How would she have known of this, and why would she be proud of it, if she had nothing to do with the thirteen? While it's true Lanfear was running around the Tower and the World of Dreams, the comments made by Liandrin and the others when they were in Amador made me think whichever Forsaken gave them orders stayed in the Tower on a regular basis. That, coupled with her knowing about Be'lal's trap for Rand, makes me think Mesaana did indeed send the thirteen.

That said, that doesn't mean she's the one who ordered Slayer to kill Amico and Joiya, and you make a wonderful case that this, like the whole plot with the sad bracelets and Tanchico, was a plot of Lanfear's.

Also, after Liandrin and the other BA capture the girls and tell them of sending for 13 Fades, they later say Be'lal is the one sending for them. And when Be'lal faces Moiraine in the Heart of the Stone he says he will "teach her to serve the Shadow". This tells me that even if Be'lal intended to turn Rand and was leaving the girls to Liandrin and her coven, he did at least have some small interest in them, including their possible turning. Not that this means he told the thirteen how/where to capture the girls.Macsternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4833204375789249557.post-34551957048675156442009-07-02T12:29:00.886-04:002009-07-02T12:29:00.886-04:00I agree with most of it, however, the Sad Bracelet...I agree with most of it, however, the Sad Bracelet is more useful to the Shadow, as they do not care if the people involved get mad. They can always replace/kill the ones turn mad and throw new people at it.

I envision Semirhage planned exactly that, and will throw many sul'dam at it if she succeeded in capturing Rand.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
